PRIVACY AND LEGAL POLICIES

Protecting privacy is important to the Chapter. The Chapter understands the importance that web users place on their personal information. This Privacy Policy, which will be posted on the Chapter’s website, explains the information that the Chapter collects and the ways that it uses this information.  By visiting the Chapter website, all web users agree to accept the practices described in this Privacy Policy. Changes to this Privacy Policy may be updated by the Board, in its sole discretion, and will be posted on the Chapter’s website.

Security

When a web user enters sensitive information via the Chapter website, such as a credit card number or personal data, the information is encrypted with industry-standard encryption software—SSL. While a web user is on a secure page, including order forms and membership applications, a lock icon displays on the user’s web browser.

Information Collection and Use

The Chapter collects information in several ways on the website. Personal information is collected when a web user creates an account; signs up for membership; registers for a course or event; contacts the Chapter via e-mail through the contact form; signs up to receive newsletters; or manages e- mail subscriptions.

Information collected from other areas of the Chapter’s site is used for billing and to fill a web user’s orders. It may be used to contact the web user regarding a purchase or request. The Chapter stores information on contact preferences in the web user’s record and uses this information for subsequent purchases.

Occasionally, the Chapter uses e-mail and postal addresses to contact members to generate volunteer support for the Chapter or to send surveys to collect data for Chapter and industry research.

E-mail Communications

Occasionally, the Chapter distributes information on products, services, events, and special promotions. A web user may elect not to receive these communications, by clicking on the "unsubscribe" link at the bottom of the message.

Event Registration

The Chapter collects contact information during event registration. All registrants have the option to opt-out of sharing their information with event sponsors. If registrants do not opt-out, the Chapter has the right to share names, role (manager, homeowner, etc.), and email addresses with event sponsors.

Cookies

Cookies are files stored on a user's computer. They are correlated to the web user but are not linked to any personally identifiable information. The Chapter uses cookies to maintain log-in information, anonymous traffic data and shopping basket contents. The Chapter monitors aggregate visitor data with Google Analytics, which uses cookies to collect anonymous traffic information. A web user has the discretion to opt to decline cookies or delete them. Web browser "help" files will provide proper instructions. If a web user chooses not to accept cookies, access may not be available to all portions of the website. For example, information in the Members Only section will not be accessible.

Information Sharing

The Chapter may on occasion provide names and mailing addresses and email addresses of event attendees to CAI Business Partners so they can share information about their products and services. The Chapter does NOT release phone or fax numbers, or any financial information on these mailing lists. The Chapter does not release the names and addresses of CAI members to management companies.

The Chapter uses an outside source for credit card processing. This company does not retain, share, store or use personally identifiable information for any secondary purposes.
